The Beginning

Hello Everyone!

This is my very first attempt at blogging so bear with me.  The point of this blog is to keep a record of our travels around the country for our children.  I named the blog the First 48, because we have a goal of getting all four children to the "mainland" 48 states before they graduate high school.  I would love to say that we will make it to Hawaii and Alaska also, but we will START with the First 48.
In the last five years, we have made it to 14 states, so we are well on our way.  My friend RaeAnn recently blogged her families trip tp Glacier National Park and I loved getting the e-mails each day to see what new adventure they had found.

So here goes...

We have been planning this trip for almost a year. Our final destination is Rockport, MA to stay for a week and just chill at the ocean.  Thomas and Teddy have never been to the ocean and Rose and Jane were one and three respectively the last time they saw it. The kids were so excited last night, I don't think anyone slept more than a few hours.  Mark and I were up until 1:00 a.m. packing the car and then the alarm went off at 3:00a.m.!  We hit road right on schedule at 4:00 a.m.  I drove first so Mark could get some sleep, I CAN'T sleep in the car.
So far we have driven through Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana with our goal of making it to Cleveland in time for dinner tonight.
The kids are doing fantastic, watching movies (the entire Spiderman trilogy, thanks, Cindy!)
