Going to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come....

We started the first day at 5:00 a.m.with packing the van and hitting the road just before 8:00 a.m.  The kids were so excited to leave, I was surprised that they got any sleep the night before!

When we were near the Black Dog plant in Burnsville, Teddy asked, "Are we still in America?"  Gotta love that!

It was a smooth day of driving out of Minnesota, through Iowa and into Missouri.  We made one stop for a bathroom break and one stop for $3.19/a gallon gas!  Yea!  $.75 less a gallon than our trip last year.  Every little bit helps.

We arrived in Kansas City around 3:00p.m. The kids swam for a bit, then we headed out to grab a bite to eat.   It was HOT!!  The thermometer read 99.  Our shuttle driver said it was actually better today, because it had been 108!  She was very interesting to talk to.  She had moved to KC from Chicago and took a nine dollar an hour pay cut, just to move her children to a safer place.  She said,"There were just to many killings in Chicago".  It makes me realize once again, just how lucky I am to live where I live.

After dinner we went back to the hotel and hit the hay early, we have a long day of driving tomorrow to Amarillo.

Dollars spent so far:  Gas $175.83  Food $71.61  Lodging $125.93  Miscellaneous junk $0.00
